Get Fit Working Out 30 Minutes 5 Days Per Week

Image
Exercise doesn't have to be extreme to be effective. In fact, working out for at least 30 minutes 5 days per week can provide a fit body for a lifetime. Athletes with certain goals may need to perform above the maintenance requirement, but in general, active adults can achieve great results using the 30-minute strategy.  Most of us want to feel and look good in and out of clothes with a simple exercise routine. This is possible without leaping over tall buildings in single bounds and lifting hundreds of pounds of weight. I'm not knocking those doing the leaping, heavy lifting, or extreme sports, but addressing the norm demographic of everyday people who just want to get and look healthy.  Studies have shown that 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity such as brisk walking several times weekly is sufficient to maintain a healthy body. It would be reduced to 75 minutes per week if the exercise is vigorous like running or attending an aerobics class. High-intensity interval t...

Discipline is Doing the Workout Anyway

Image
Early morning or evening , it's important not to skip your workout. Discipline is doing it anyway even when you don't feel like it. Let's face it, we all have these days.  We don't always feel like getting out of bed to that set alarm. After work we're tired and just want to get home to a hot meal and sofa time.   Sometimes it takes forcing ourselves up in the morning and splashing cold water on our face. Having our gym clothes ready to go in the car after work can motivate us to hit the gym.  Discipline is what takes us to that place called success. If we only worked out on the days we felt good, it would become a rare occasion. We can always come up with a reason not to hit they gym. It's those days we feel tired, weak, sore and mentally defeated that make for the ...

DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF Believe me this has been a lifetime learning journey and it feels really good to be in this place…peaceful existence, balance with life and self, and overall feeling of AWWW…Life is BETTER than Great! I can remember being caught up in the stuff that really does not matter in the BIG scheme of life…the house looking just right, what people thought, oh my…my body is not quite there…is that fat on my butt…really???   How many times am I going to give myself the outer thigh pinch test for crying out loud.   Oh…I burned this, and that food presentation does not look perfect, oh…am I saying that just right,   am I doing this right, and, oh no…my diet was not clean today and I have just ruined everything…REALLY?   Enough of that crap already…whew…like I shared earlier…I am so glad to NOT be there anymore.   We really can be our own worst enemy if we let ourselves.   Thoughts of “not good enough” swirling around in my head years ago are...

FIT TO BE TIED

FIT TO BE TIED YEP…I am FIT to be TIED…all in a very good way of course.   Since my wedding anniversary is this month, I thought it would be FITTING to talk about fitness, marriage and anything else that may pop into my head as I put these thoughts together.       First let me say that I consider my marriage to Don as one of the most defining successes in my life…it has taken half my life to get to this place, but the journey was worth the prize and I thank God every day for such a fabulous man to share my life.   I love that word…SHARE…and the beautiful part is that my journey in this life continues in a new way, as I grow daily as my own person, but also right alongside my partner, friend and husband.     Does that mean that everything is perfect, fairytale adventure, Cinderella land…well of course not…what it does mean is that through this journey of life, the challenges brought our way are now met with a fabulous combination of what two ...
