Healthcare and Frostbite

Image
Cold weather is fast approaching and may already be where you are now! Have you ever been so cold that you thought body parts were frozen and ready to fall off? Frostbite is a deadly serious health issue and is common where temperatures get very low, especially during the winter months. Some areas of the world are more prone to frigid weather, and the fear of getting frozen flesh is very real. When the storms howl and the ice and snow get deep, often the temps get very cold. Wind chill is also a factor that takes the real temperature to a much colder “feels like” temperature. That can be dangerous. If your exposed to bitter cold for too long, you can develop frost bite. The elderly and children are especially at risk during very cold weather. According to KidsHealth.org, frostbite is, literally, frozen body tissue — usually the skin, but sometimes deeper tissue. It must be managed carefully to prevent permanent tissue damage. The varying degrees of frostbite are based on how deep the t...

Brow and Lip Embroidery at BrowArt Studio

Image
Advertorial Nowadays it seems like every other girl have had eyebrow embroidery done! It is a beauty trend that is catching on like fire as women everywhere realise they don't have to wake up with bare brows that they have to spend 15 mins drawing perfectly... Some days you can do a great job in 5 mins and you strut around like MY BROWS ON FLEEK YO. Other days... Oops Brows are really important because they frame your face - I mean, there is an entire website dedicated to how horrific celebrities will look like without eyebrows . hahaha!! Drawing the perfect pair of brows is difficult because not only do you have to figure on what suits your features and face shape, you have to pluck/shave your own brows to said shape, find the perfect eyebrow pencil (and cry when it gets discontinued), and after finishing one side, make sure the other doesn't look too different. Not everyone has the skills or time for that. But of course, a lot of people also fear... What if I get eyebrow embr...

Fitness Takes Discipline

Image
Discipline can feel like a negative word. Remember when we were disciplined as kids? It felt horrible at the time. However, if done out of love, discipline can provide structure and a healthy lifestyle . In fact, I would say I live a pretty disciplined life when it comes to health and fitness. Discipline has helped  mold me into the woman I am today. Discipline has made the ranks of being a positive part of fitness success. It provides the drive to pursue my goals even on days where I don't feel like it. Without discipline, I think my life would be completely different. Without this structure, I wouldn't have the discipline to work out, eat the way I do , or take care of myself overall.  Discipline includes keeping workout appointments with myself without excuses. Preparing meals ahead of time to stay accountable to eating right also takes discipline. Remaining true to fitness philosophies also takes a disciplined attitude. It could be easy to get off track, but a disciplined...

My Double Eyelid Surgery with Beverly Wilshire

Image
Advertorial If you follow me on snapchat (id: Thexiaxue) you would know that about a month ago I did my double eyelid surgery! Here is the blog post about my latest plastic surgery journey! As I mentioned on my Dollywink post, I have double eyelids but they are tapered and low. So I always put on eyelid tape whenever I have makeup on. You can see the difference with tape and without. I've actually gone through eyelid surgery before in 2010 - you can see the post here . In 2010, I did the sewing of eyelids** and the cutting of the outer corner of my eyes. That surgery was terrible. Like so so so so bad. The surgeon was a China guy who can't even speak English. It was extremely painful. I had a shot of LA under my eyes that felt like it pierced into my eyeballs and what's worse is that I knew I had to go through it again for my other fucking eye. Pain scale 9/10. After the surgery, I realised that both my eyeballs suffered trauma and both my eye whites became a very scary red...

Health Care and Diabetes

Image
One of the most difficult health care management issues today is controlling the rise in cases of diabetes. Chronic disease management costs and care have increased substantially with the disease over the past decade.  The medical community has declared diabetes to be an epidemic within current society, and it appears to be getting worse each year. However, in a sign that Americans may finally be turning the corner in the fight against diabetes -- and possibly obesity -- federal health statistics released this month show that the number of new cases of diabetes has dropped for the first time in decades and reported by HealthDay News. The decline wasn't sudden or dramatic. But, the number of new diabetes cases went from 1.7 million in 2009 to 1.4 million in 2014, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC report offers some encouraging indications that Americans may finally be adopting healthier lifestyles. For example, fewer whites are now being diag...
